November 19, 2017: Pass the Gratitude, Please

Our annual Thanksgiving Communion service is always a time of deep connection to God’s presence within us. Communion, whether experienced through times of prayer or through the ritual of partaking of symbolic elements, is a time to make a very personal and meaningful connection with Spirit. Our prayer chaplains will facilitate our communion experience and our entire day will be filled with the energy of gratitude for all the good in our lives.

November 5, 2017: Consider the Lilies of the Field

It isn’t hard to get caught up on the busy-ness of life, especially as the year-end holidays approach. However, it only takes seeing from new perspectives and being mindful and attentive to our emotions to release anxiety and replace it with a sense of calm. It’s a great lifestyle and one we will begin to create as our first step into this very busy time of year.

October 29, 2017: Wholehearted Living - At Your Service

We conclude our fall series with a new set of personal core values ready to support us as we go forward. Each of us is here to make a difference in the world in some way. As we view ourselves as part of one family of humanity, and with the belief of our oneness with all people through Spirit’s presence in us, we ask, ‘what is mine to do?’ We do so knowing that we have all we need within us to achieve whatever we are called to do. We also have a strong foundation of divine qualities, our core values, to support and guide us every step of the way.

October 22, 2017: Wholehearted Living - Leading Out Loud

Who are you? In what do you believe? What do you stand for? How do you show up in life? These are very important questions to ask. Even more important is how we choose to express their answers in our daily lives. Do we do so with pride, or heartfelt conviction? Do we offer them as absolute truth for everyone, or leave room for others’ perspectives? Do we close our minds or engage willingly in respectful disagreement with those around us?
The goal of ‘leading out loud’ is not to convert others to your way of being; it is to be a model for how they can also access their own answers and offer them in ways that welcome diversity and civil engagement in a diverse world.

October 15, 2017: Wholehearted Living - Compassionate Care

Although we can think positive thoughts and hold a vision of all that is possible in life, life will have its challenges. No one is immune to the wide spectrum of difficulties that can come our way at any time. As hard as it may be to experience them, it becomes much easier to do so when we tap into our compassion. Whether we offer it to ourselves or to someone else, it has the power to transform the challenges, and in turn, transform our lives.

October 8, 2017: Wholehearted Living - Love is Love

The world is crying out for love today perhaps more than ever before. A love that is unconditional and offered without judgment or filters of any kind. This love that is unchanging and without limitation is the love of God, a sacred quality that exists deep within us all through the presence of the Christ. Let’s take time to remember the inherent goodness and love with which we came into this world. Let us express it in as many ways as we can so that everyone we meet remembers this same truth about themselves.

October 1, 2017: Wholehearted Living - Here I Am, Guide Me

One of the most powerful actions we can take is that of spiritual surrender, an act of inviting God into our thoughts, words, and actions. Prayer and meditation helps us to connect with the sacred within us. It is from that connection that we access the wisdom, clarity, and guidance we seek. Join us as we surrender to God within by simply saying, ‘Here I Am’

September 24, 2017:  Cultivating Prosperity Week 5: The Creative Process

Let's get metaphysical! Yes, we will take a look at prosperity and abundance by laying a metaphysical lens over the creative process as offered in scripture. We'll see the richness of the prosperity teachings that lay beneath the literal word and ways in which we can apply that in our lives today in new and powerful ways. This is the last installment of our 'Cultivating Prosperity' series for this year.

September 10, 2017:  Invigorating the Soul

So often we can find ourselves feeling the need to do more and to be more in order to feel accepted and to 'fit in'. What we usually end up feeling is tired and betrayed. Let's reinvigorate our souls by choosing to sing, dance, laugh, and simply allow our souls to express the joy they desire to experience in this life.

September 4, 2017: What's On Your Playlist?

Many of us have a play list of music that is made up of songs that inspire us and feed our soul in some way. What if we had a literal ‘play’ list, a list of things to do that were fun and joyful and which could continually foster our imagination, improve relationships, and help us move through challenges in life?

August 27, 2017: Risky Business

To be creative involves risk. It calls for us to be ok with any fear or vulnerability that may arise. It urges us to embrace our uniqueness, follow our dreams, and even seek out new and innovative ways to express our creative gifts.   With this lesson, we'll look at some of the many benefits that risks can bring and share how some of them have been key to the growth and expansion of the Unity movement.

August 20, 2017: A Part of Our Story

The recent events in Charlottesville, VA, have served to remind us and show us that racism and white supremacy continue to be a part of the story of our country. We invite you to listen to our service lesson from August 20.  It is one that Rev. Eileen Stulak noted was a difficult one to offer, yet one that could not be ignored.

August 13, 2017: Rev. Jane Lippert, guest speaker

August 6, 2017: The Thief of Happiness

Sometimes we compare ourselves to others. Sometimes we conform to what others expect. Sometimes we compete with others as we try to prove our value, but only end up diminishing our creativity. What if we only compared ourselves to ourselves? What better way to expand, grow, and be the person that only we can be? Join us as we enter into a new month cultivating our creativity and letting go of comparison.

July 16, 2017: Was That Really You, God?

One of our five core values at Unity of Traverse City is that of being Spirit-Led, of turning within for wisdom, clarity, and guidance. How do you really know that it’s God ‘talking’ to you? And what if you disagree with what It says? Listen in as we explore the question, ‘Was That Really You, God?’

July 9, 2017: The Universal Current of Life

Might there be a place where all of history can be accessed, where the connection of all people to each other clearly seen, and where all we ever needed to know is written? Perhaps there is such a universal place; one we can tap into at any time.

July 3, 2017: 'Your Independence Day'

In 1776, our founding fathers issued a declaration of independence in order to set forth in writing our nation’s freedom from the British Empire. What would you include in a personal and spiritual declaration of independence for your life today?

June 25, 2017: Guest Speaker, Rev Patricia Bass "How Will They Remember Me?"

Have you ever wondered, “What will people say about me once I am gone?”  Have you ever asked yourself, “What will my legacy be?”  You make an imprint upon the world with every step you take and every word you speak. At Unity of Traverse City, the core value of love encourages us to acknowledge God’s presence in ourselves and in all people. This means that your presence matters to everyone who knows you, and even those who don’t. It’s never too early (or too late) to become intentional about the energy you leave behind. That is your unique gift to the world. It is your legacy.

April 16, 2017: Easter Sunday - 'And Even Greater Things'

Our Lenten season has been one of letting go of self-doubt and beliefs in perfectionism, while creating true meaning in our lives grounded in the truth of our own divinity. When we strip away what we think we’re ‘supposed’ to be, we find who we really are and have been all along . . . sacred creations of a loving God. Jesus was the model of fully expressing one’s sacredness and today we follow in his footsteps. We invite you to listen to a joyous Easter Sunday celebration service as we rise up, embrace our eternal oneness with God, and set a course for even greater things that are ours to do.

April 9, 2017: 'It Came to Pass'

The phrase 'It came to pass' is used over 450 times in the books of the Bible and its typical meaning is to say, 'something happened'. In light of Palm Sunday and the subsequent story of Holy Week, what if we looked at this phrase in a different light? What if we looked at the challenges and ultimate death of Jesus as being something that came, in order for him to move through and past? And, what if we looked at our lives and challenges we each face at one time or another as experiences that we, too, can accept and move through, in order to rise into higher states of spiritual consciousness?

April 2, 2017: 'Nobody's Perfect'

Today's lesson showcases our second installment of this year’s prosperity series, ‘Cultivating Prosperity’. April’s focus is on letting go of perfectionism and cultivating self-compassion. March 19, 2017: 'The Slash Effect'

We’ll let go of self-doubt and ‘supposed to’ and discover for ourselves who we really are and that which is ours to be.

March 12, 2017: 'The Board Walk'

Our spiritual community has been lovingly served over its history by incredible members of our governing board of trustees. In today's lesson, we celebrate all who have served on our board over the years and deepen our appreciation for their service to the ministry, along with the qualities of dedication, leadership, and ‘walking their talk’ they have expressed.

Join us for a very special service podcast as we honor the founding members of our church and hear from three of our founders who are celebrating their 35th year in the ministry.

February 19, 2017: 'Get Out of the Way'

The late comedian, Joan Rivers, would often ask, 'Can we talk?' In this lesson we look at why answering 'yes' to that question is a way to free ourselves from the beliefs, feelings, and self-judgements that stand in the way of our living wholehearted lives.

Love is something to be practiced in addition to being professed. Tune into this podcast to hear about at our core value of Love and how we can continue putting it into practice in the ministry and in our lives.

January 29, 2017: 'Can You Dig It?'

Many of us learned that 'digging deep' means pushing through no matter how exhausted or overwhelmed we feel. In today's podcast, we learn a new way to DIG deep. We get deliberate, we get inspired, and we get going.

January 22, 2017: 'The Gifts of Imperfection'

Courage enables us to reach out; compassion guides us to offer empathy to another; connections strengthen our sense of self-acceptance and worthiness. In this lesson, we explore how to put all three of these gifts into practice in our lives.

January 15, 2017: 'Cultivating Prosperity Week 1: Wholehearted Living'

In this lesson, Rev. Eileen offers the first installment of our 2017 Prosperity Series, ‘Cultivating Prosperity’. Exploring the ministry’s underlying theme for this year, that of ‘Wholehearted Living' we begin with accepting our vulnerabilities and allow them to guide us on a path of consciousness and choice.

January 8, 2017: 'Cultivating a Living Legacy'

In this episode, we introduce our theme for 2017, ‘35 Years: Cultivating a Living Legacy’, which will be a testament to Unity of Traverse City as we move through our 35th year as a ministry. We look at what a living legacy can mean in our lives and use the ritual of the white stone to discern the individual and unique quality or way of being that will be ours to embody and express as we build upon our personal legacies and that of our spiritual community.

January 1, 2017: 'Release and Embrace'

Today we had a very special Burning Bowl Service. During the service, and through the ritual of the burning bowl, we symbolically released all that no longer serves us as we bring closure to 2016. We wrote down what we do not wish to carry forward into 2017 and placed our papers into the burning bowl urn. As we watched them dissipate into nothingness, we turned our attention to all that we wish to embrace for our lives as we enter into a new year.
